Chicken Biryani 








Chicken Biryani is a classic and flavorful rice dish that is a staple in many cultures around the world. It is made with aromatic basmati rice, tender chicken, and a blend of spices that give it a distinct and delicious flavor. In this recipe, we will show you how to make a delicious and authentic chicken biryani that is sure to impress your family and friends.


Ingredients:


2 cups basmati rice

1 pound chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces

1 medium onion, thinly sliced

1 cup frozen peas

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 teaspoon cumin seeds

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon ground turmeric

1 teaspoon ground coriander

1 teaspoon ground cumin

1 teaspoon garam masala

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 cups chicken broth

1/2 cup raisins

1/2 cup slivered almonds, toasted

2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro, for garnish

Instructions:


Rinse the rice in a fine mesh strainer under cold water for about 1 minute. This will help to remove excess starch and ensure that the rice cooks evenly.


In a large saucepan, bring the chicken broth to a boil. Add the rice and return to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18-20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid has been absorbed.


While the rice is cooking, heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and let them sizzle for about 30 seconds, until fragrant.


Add the onions and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until they are golden brown and caramelized.


Add the garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.


Add the chicken and cook until it is no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.


Add the turmeric, coriander, cumin, garam masala, and salt, and stir to coat the chicken.


Add the frozen peas and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until they are heated through.


When the rice is done, fluff it with a fork and stir in the raisins and toasted almonds.


To assemble the biryani, place half of the rice in the bottom of a large serving dish. Top with the chicken and vegetable mixture, then cover with the remaining rice.


Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot.
